Santa Cruz Baby!!!

This last Weekend the David Bird Family went on a mini Vacation-Reunion to Santa Cruz.... It was SO much fun! I have never been to Santa Cruz, so it was a neat experience for me. The place we stayed at was minutes from the beach and it was super nice! The only thing that sucked was that I had to walk upstairs to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. We went to a few different local beaches, and we walked to the boardwalk and on Pacific Ave for shopping. I hope it was a good time had by all! :)

Hailey had not been in sand before, so i knew this would be an adventure. When I would try to put her feet on the sand, she would pull them up so quick it was funny! Then Kevin took her down by the water where the sand was not so wierd, and she started walking no problem! Every beach we would visit she would hesitate to walk on the sand, but once she got the hang of it she was going NO problem! On the boardwalk beach we got her some toys and such and just let her have at it, and she played in the sand all by herself for over an hour! So my lesson learned.... we need to live by the beach! HAHA

Melissa Imel and myself planned a "romantic getaway" for Mom and Dad Bird to celebrate their 35th Wedding Anniversary coming up on Aug 11th. We sent them on a little scavenger hunt around the area then led them to the beach where we had put out a blanket and surrounded the area with white lights and candles. We wanted to let them know that we are thankful for the example they are in our lives, and let them know that we love them both very much!

The drive there and back was great and I think it was a success! Hailey really loved the trip and we are all glad to have spent some good family time together! ~

We all scream for ICE CREAM!!

Ok, so this was SO much fun! I have to admit I went a little overboard and made my little brother and sister walk to the store with me, and it was about a 3 mile walk all together... I want to stay active and keep my weight down with this baby, so I thought it would be a good idea... not so much! So by the time we left the store I was a little light headed so I decided we needed some ICE CREAM! Hailey LOVED the idea! Here are a few pictures of the little girl and her Ice Cream! LOVE IT!

Katelyn and Hailey ~

So Nicole and Brian and their baby Katelyn came to Sacramento to visit both grandparents. While they were here both Matt and I fell in LOVE with Katelyn!! She reminded us SO much of Hailey as a baby, it was so nice to hold a baby that will let you just hold her! ~ So this is a picture of Hailey and Katelyn holding hands. Hailey was constantly giving her kisses or trying to touch her, so this was cute to see them doing! ~

Happy 4th of July! ~

So this year we had MOST of the family here for Independance Day! We are missing Crystal and Pete, but everyone else was here! Not such a common thing anymore to have most of us around! We had a fun filled holiday! We started it off with a nice Pancake Breakfast at church! That is a big tradition here in Sacramento, I am SURE we have gone every year! Matt, Myself and Sharon rode our bikes over to the church with Hailey and Logan in the bike trailer, that was loads of fun. There were two wards celebrating together, so it was a HUGE croud there! Matt and I were in charge of passing out the food, which kept us from enjoying just sitting and relaxing, but it was still fun!

After that we all hung out at my parents and had Lunner (lunch-dinner) of Hot Dogs and Hamburgers! You know all the usual! So then we headed to Stockton to catch the fireworks on the Delta and for Matt to get a little riding time in. The best thing about the day was Hailey watching the fireworks. At first she just stared at them and pointed to them in the air. Then she laid down on my lap on the back of the boat and just took it all in with her Ohh and Ahh's. She really is such a big girl! She loved it, and Matt and I did too!

We sure are lucky to live in such a GREAT land, and have the freedoms we are able to enjoy. Life sure is just a little bit better when we are able to celebrate these things! ~
