Santa Cruz Baby!!!

This last Weekend the David Bird Family went on a mini Vacation-Reunion to Santa Cruz.... It was SO much fun! I have never been to Santa Cruz, so it was a neat experience for me. The place we stayed at was minutes from the beach and it was super nice! The only thing that sucked was that I had to walk upstairs to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. We went to a few different local beaches, and we walked to the boardwalk and on Pacific Ave for shopping. I hope it was a good time had by all! :)

Hailey had not been in sand before, so i knew this would be an adventure. When I would try to put her feet on the sand, she would pull them up so quick it was funny! Then Kevin took her down by the water where the sand was not so wierd, and she started walking no problem! Every beach we would visit she would hesitate to walk on the sand, but once she got the hang of it she was going NO problem! On the boardwalk beach we got her some toys and such and just let her have at it, and she played in the sand all by herself for over an hour! So my lesson learned.... we need to live by the beach! HAHA

Melissa Imel and myself planned a "romantic getaway" for Mom and Dad Bird to celebrate their 35th Wedding Anniversary coming up on Aug 11th. We sent them on a little scavenger hunt around the area then led them to the beach where we had put out a blanket and surrounded the area with white lights and candles. We wanted to let them know that we are thankful for the example they are in our lives, and let them know that we love them both very much!

The drive there and back was great and I think it was a success! Hailey really loved the trip and we are all glad to have spent some good family time together! ~
