My Escort (her name was Shelby) died. Matt was returning to work from a lunch trip and while waiting at a stoplight she just went crazy and died. We took it to our mechanic (SHOUT OUT TO SWANNY!) who had JUST done a tune-up on it. (Every year we get a tune-up done to keep her going) So yeah, we JUST put 500$ into this car... and she died on us...
On top of that I had JUST paid DMV for the registration renewal. The car died 2 days before the actual registration was due. We had to make a few trips to DMV to request a refund of the registration and to put the car on Non-Operational Status... And LUCKY me, I got to pay another 19$ in the hopes that they would refund my $100.00 registration fee...
So we sold the car to some guys that were willing to put the work into it...
I made Matt take a picture of me and baby Kylie with the car so she can know she was around for a few days before the wonderful Escort left our family! I officially had 3 kids with that car. Even though it died two weeks before my water broke and I was in the hospital...
Here goes my very first baby...
This is the second car I purchased; but it was the first REAL car that I made payments on. The car I graduated High School in. The car I made out in... he he... shh no judging. The car I drove to College in, and went on TONS OF DATES...( I guess the other guys drove, but I went on some dates in this car) The car I got married in. The car I brought my first baby home in. The car that moved 9 times in the almost 10 years of our marriage... my baby... it was hard to watch her go.
SO
When you lose a car...
usually you get a new car...
But with a husband like mine...
WE GOT...
A Yamaha Zuma Scooter.
This is the SAME year, make, a model of scooter that his dad has.
Matt decided this would be a GREAT purchase.
This is his new mode of transportation to get to work, and run errands around the town.
Somehow in my "pregnant stupor" I allowed this purchase...
As long as he is safe and cautious I am OK with him driving it.
It only goes 50 mph, and is not allowed on the highway.
But with only the one SUV and one scooter the Bird Family was not complete...
So while I was in the Hospital on Bed rest;
Matt bought THIS...
Our Dodge Grand Caravan Crew...
her name is Sadie.
(That was one of the names we liked for
Baby Kylie, I decided I could use it for my new car.)
We were able to "car shop" before I went into the hospital so luckily we were able to narrow it down to what we wanted. I went into the shopping experience fully expecting to buy a bigger SUV.
How did I end up wanting a Mini-Van you ask...
WELL...
~This car has automatic sliding doors.
~It has an automatic rear door as well.
~It has a drop down DVD screen with headphones for the kids...
so I can still listen to music while they watch a movie.
~ It has a backup camera so I won't run over carts at stores anymore...
~ It has stow n' go seats... you don't know what that is... GOOGLE IT! They are amazing! I don't have to remove any seats... with the flip of a lever I can stow any seat in the back in the floor. And when the seats are up... the STORAGE IS AMAZING!!!
~ This car has SO much more, but those things are what sold me on it in the first place...
Those huge SUV's don't have any of this AND they are 20K more...
SO I am now a MINI VAN MAMMA!
It's my little Swagger Wagon Sadie!!
P.S. NO WE ARE NOT RICH. NO WE DID NOT GET A HUGE PAY RAISE. We did what people call SAVE money for the new car we know we are going to need to get...
Goodbye to my dear old car... hello to the new!!

Bet you're glad I told you about that mother of a mini-vans. I'll admit it, I am a little jealous of the stow-and-go seats....but at least I don't have to drive a mini-van. :)
